Eugene Thomas, Louisville, KYpainting
A native of Louisville, Eugene Thomas has loved to paint since childhood. He constantly frustrated his mother by painting murals on the walls of his bedroom. As he grew up, Eugene tried many artistic pursuits before finally deciding to follow his dream and become a professional artist.
Eugene took classes in art at Jefferson Community College but is mostly self-taught. Thomas is inspired by spiritual purpose and feels that one of the primary functions of art is to improve mankind by stimulating the mind and helping to broaden personal vision. These beliefs cause him to be very active in social causes and he participates with and supports the efforts of numerous foundations and fundraisers throughout the region
Working in a series, Eugene works to convey his personal and soul-searching communication with others. He conveys these ideas with images and broad areas of color that represent the world, sometimes as seen through the eyes and mind of a woman.
Works by Eugene Thomas can be found at Framing Express, Louisville, KY; E & S Gallery, Louisville, KY; and at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
