Although Wanda Frankum Greene was born in Chicago, her roots and life are in Kentucky. In her formative years, Wanda moved to Adair County and attended a one room school. Early in life, Wanda learned the value of creating with her hands. She earned degrees in art from Lindsey Wilson College, Campbellsville University, and Western Kentucky University.

Wanda has been both artist and teacher for more than 30 years. Now retired from teaching, she produces raku pottery, a glazing technique that first originated in Japan almost 500 years ago. Wanda’s potteries are one-of-a kind originals. Each piece is different due to the process of kiln firings and some attain names.

Wanda’s work has been featured at exhibitions including the J.B. Speed Art Museum in Louisville, the Headley-Whitney Museum in Lexington, and the Evansville Art Museum in Evansville, Indiana. She is a member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen.

Wanda’s work can be found at the Appalachian Kentucky Artisan Center in Hindman, KY; the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, Louisville, KY; and at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
